Pulau Aman is an idyllic Malay fishing village off the coast of Bukit Tambun, Seberang Prai, located on the southeast of Penang island. It covers 288 acres and is well-known for having the oldest Sukun (breadfruit) tree in Malaysia. The island is reachable by ferry boat from Batu Musang Jetty (Batu Kawan) where ample parking space is available with charge of RM2 per car. Boat details are as below:Ferry price: RM6 for adult (return), RM4 for children (return), RM4 per waySchedule:· From Pulau Aman - 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm· From Batu Musang - 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm
The boat schedule above serves for weekdays where visitor flow is low. Yet during our visit, it was a normal day but we don't have to wait long for the boat as there are many people out there probably due to school holiday.
Pulau Aman, a peaceful land famous for cheap fresh seafood
The island map where I don't explore all these places of interest
We were here to pig out fresh seafood where the Restoran Terapung is
Not far from the pier, Restoran Terapung is now served as the main attraction point of Pulau Aman
We were here quite early, around 10.30am, the restaurant was still quite vacant and we had lots of seafood to choose! But the most popular mantis prawn was not available that day. The ordering style here is: you choose and pay your fresh seafood at the ingress stall, then carry the bucket to the restaurant and ask them to cook (basically just steam)
Buah Sukun (breadfruit) chips, taste like the soggy curry-powder-seasoned potato chips
Mee Udang Kuah (RM6) - I like the gravy so much, not too thick with balance of sweet-sourness
Bihun goreng udang (RM6) - This is so so to me
Seafood picked from stall outside, all are so fresh and succulent! Guess what? The total bill for this meal is less than RM100 (inclusive of seafood, 3 drinks, 2 bihun goreng udang, 2 mee udang kuah and a pack of breadfruit chip)
After the food, sight seeing around the island is a must. Initially we decided to stroll around the island following the coast line as the local said it only takes 1 hour plus to round the island and we thought the trail is kinda easy of reinforced concrete track all the way
Dad never gets enough of food
Spotted the poor little cutie
View of 2nd Penang bridge
We were proved wrong after 30 minutes stroll as concrete track ends and here it starts the trail for jungle trekking. We were wearing sandals so decided not to move forward but return to the pier.
Upon our arrival at the pier, we rest at the pier restaurant for some cold drinks before starting off for another attraction point in the island Telaga Emas, and bf ordered this goodness - Mee Goreng Udang (RM8)! Omg this is a lot much tastier than Restoran Terapung, prawns are bigger too, the only sad thing is they don't offer seafood.
The Sukun (Breadfruit)
Never seen breadfruit in my life, so do my parents
Peaceful village view out of the city
Some local delicacies available for tourist
Is this the legendary sand track that connecting two islands where people can walk across during the ebb?
In the end we did not manage to go Telaga Emas due to super hot weather and laziness of my trip companions. So we were here merely for the cheap fresh seafood, and sea breeze!
