A day with Mary @ Tonkatsu, Pavilion

Darling's aunt and family were visiting Malaysia in the past weekend, particularly Kuala Lumpur. Therefore, we do the honors and had a Saturday night dinner in Pavilion, giving a Japanese treat to our guests from Singapore. We chose Tonkatsu to dine in, a Japanese restaurant which doesn't offer Sashimi, but specialty in fried pork chop.

Tonkatsu is located at the level 6 in Pavilion, Lot 6.12; it is a cozy and classy restaurant

The menu does not offer much varieties, mostly are fried items, and 1-2 dishes of stir-fried/saute and may be 1 dish of noodles (still with fried pork chop with it)

Before the food, we had a group photo first, too bad darling is missed out to be cameraman

We noticed a small size pestle and mortar, were curious what is it for

But soon after, the answer revealed as the waitress came and demonstrated us how to prepare the dressing for fried pork chop, some sesame was pestled until nice smell is out, then their in house special dressing which made of tomato, carrot and apple was poured to mixed with the ground sesame, and here's the complete dressing

Then we did the work ourselves, was too greedy and put too much sesame, making the dressing tasted weird

This's the dressing for unlimited refillable cabbage, taste refreshing and with a tad of sourness, I guess it is something like vinegar-mixed

We had Okura Mentaiko Ae (RM10) as our appetizer, I always love lady finger and this dish really taste good for us, the lady finger is young and crunchy, with very appetizing sauce and generous amount of dried bonito flakes, bravo!

Darling's Set 2 : Rosu Katsu Zen (RM27) - Breaded pork loin cutlet served with sliced cabbage, tofu, pickled vegetables, pork vegetable miso soup and rice
The pork loin cutlet is so thick and succulent, without any bad smell of pork, and the most importantly it doesn't taste oily at all! Every bite is a big satisfaction~

Set 6 : Chicken Katsu, Hire Katsu and Rosu Katsu Zen (RM32)
A combination of fried chicken, pork fillet and pork loin

Set 5: Buta Shogayaki Zen (RM26) - Pan saute pork belly with ginger sauce served with sliced cabbage, tofu, pickled vegetables, pork vegetable miso soup and rice

DSC_0501
Buta Kimuchi Zen (RM27) - Japanese style Kimchi stir-fry with pork slice, mushroom, and onion. This Kimchi tastes a lot different with Korean style one, it has more sweetness and not so sour and spicy as Korean one, taste like our Chinese's signature dish 糖醋排骨, not bad but I think the chef can reduce a little bit of saltiness

The miso soup tasted different from the ordinary one we had always, it has quite a lot of ingredients inside (carrot, mushroom, pork slice, white carrot, and juruo) but miss out the common ingredient in ordinary miso soup, which is seaweed~ It tasted a bit like our white carrot soup, not so like miso soup because the miso taste is quite lack of, however it is still a good one

Ebi Furai (RM29) - Prawns are fresh and big size, tastes good with the sauce provided, I even swallow the shell

Chawan Mushi (RM10) - Darling said it tastes not really nice as the mushroom is like uncooked, with raw smell and rubbery taste

After the dinner, we headed to Tokyo street for window shopping, I noticed a lot of nice snacks and food over there, however we were too full to eat anything extra! Wait for next time, very soon I guess as my parents are down to KL this week and will be stayed in Bukit Bintang, I can come here anytime within their stay, yeah!

Then we saw Forever 21 is having sales, Estee and I got excited and we spent a little time in the shop to grab some clothing (Maybe for the rest they don't think it is a little time) ~  I only bought a promotional striped knit top from the so-called sales, the other two pieces were at normal price, luckily there is another extra 10% discount for CIMB cards, so I paid RM232.20 for these 3 pieces, quite painful~

Since the night is still young, and we know Aunty Mary loves to drink, so we offered them to go Overtime~

Darling always like to order cocktail; Cosmopolita (RM20)

Aunty Mary's 1 pint Dunkel (RM35), according to her this is the best beer she ever had, perhaps I should try this next time because I always frightened by the color it has, it just simply looks bitter

Cheers~ Again darling is missed out as cameraman

The Saturday night in Overtime was surprisingly not that happening, and the songs performed were really boring because all were so sentimental~

Meet the sweet couple!

Lastly, they bought us a gift pack from planet popcorn with some special flavor such as seaweed, curry, and cheese, I never had popcorn other than caramel flavor, and I guess this should tastes nice, thanks!
